How Does It Work?
Everything you need to know about leasing with Atomatoflames Flight Club
Based at Livermore Municipal Airport (LVK), Livermore, California
⚠️ Work in Progress
We're actively setting up our first aircraft and refining our processes. Some details may change as we grow.
How is this different?
You get your own key! This isn't access to a busy rental fleet—it's your dedicated aircraft that you share with just a small, carefully selected group of pilots. Unlike traditional flight schools or rental operations where you're competing with dozens of students and renters, you'll have direct access to a well-maintained aircraft that's available when you need it. Think of it as having a co-owned airplane without the full financial commitment and maintenance responsibilities of sole ownership.
Who is this for?
This is perfect for pilots who want reliable access to a quality aircraft without the hassles of traditional rentals. If you're tired of competing with flight training schedules, dealing with worn-out trainer aircraft, or struggling to find availability when you want to fly, this is for you. Our members are typically experienced pilots who value well-maintained equipment, flexible scheduling, and the freedom to take cross-country trips. You'll fly aircraft that are kept in excellent condition—not beat-up trainers—and you'll have the flexibility to reserve time that works with your schedule, not around a school's training program.
What does leasing mean?
Leasing is similar to leasing a car—it's a commitment for 3, 6, or 12 months. During your lease period, you subscribe to an aircraft and have full access to reserve and fly it as much as you'd like. You'll share the booking system with up to 9 other members. The agreement is structured as a rental contract, giving you the benefits of aircraft access without the responsibilities of full ownership.
How much is the lease?
From $200 monthly with quarterly commitments. This low monthly fee gives you access to our well-maintained fleet without the burden of full ownership costs.
How much is the hourly rate?
$135 per hour. This competitive rate includes fuel and covers the operating costs of our fully equipped aircraft.
How many people share the airplane?
No more than 10 members per aircraft. This limited ownership model ensures better availability and a more personal experience compared to traditional rental operations.
Can I take it for multi-day trips?
Yes, of course! We encourage cross-country flying. There is a small daily fee for overnight stays, and an annual limit of 15 overnight stays per member to ensure fair access for all.
What if the airplane is down for maintenance?
During the first month of maintenance downtime, you will only be charged $45. After that, your monthly payments are suspended until the aircraft is back in service. We are actively working on adding more planes to the fleet and making leases transferable between aircraft.
Speaking of maintenance, how are the planes maintained?
Just like if it would be my own. We maintain our aircraft to the highest standards with regular inspections, proactive maintenance, and attention to every detail. Your safety and the aircraft's reliability are our top priorities.
How do I reserve a plane?
We use a widely known and popular reservation app that makes booking simple and convenient. You'll receive access details once you become a member.
Can I talk to the other pilots who are leasing the plane?
YES! We have a dedicated Slack channel for each tail number where members discuss issues, coordinate reservations, share tips, and build a community. Communication and collaboration are key to a great flight club experience.
What happens if one of the fellow owners isn't taking care of the plane?
Any given pilot is carefully vetted and interviewed before joining. However, we have a 3-strike rule: once a pilot is reported and verified for negligence three times, their lease will be terminated and they will be banned from the club. We take aircraft care seriously.
